my origin story
leah gabriela mazariegos
growing up in south-east texas, I was exposed to music early in on in childhood. my father, who was also a musician from a young age, and mother encouraged my connection to music and created an environment that contributed greatly to my music education. in 2014, as a freshman in high school, i began writing poems during class, on the bus, anywhere, anytime. by 2016, it occurred to me that I might sit at my piano and apply these poems to melodies. that same year I began performing original compositions regularly at local coffee houses, and was instantly hooked. I received substantial support from peers that emboldened my desire to maintain a consistent songwriting practice. fast forward to today, i write at least five songs a year - recording, producing, and mastering each piece on my own.
in 2019, I was granted the opportunity to study with Berklee Online, and began pursuing my BA in Songwriting & Music Production. throughout my time studying with Berklee I have gained extensive knowledge regarding professional music production techniques, industry practices, and career networking. I plan to graduate in 2026, aiming towards an audio design role within in independent firm. my mission as a musician has always been to create and maintain environments where creators feel safe, supported, and able to capture their finest artistry.
